Canada ended their last game in the year with a good game after a 3-0 win on Tuesday against Suriname and an aggregate 4-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Nations League.

This win has automatically placed the team in the Nations League Finals at SoFi Stadium, California, while they have equally qualified to play for the 2025 Gold Cup.

Canada’s Jacob Shaffelburg was the star of the match after scoring double while Jonathan David added another goal, making him the team’s all-time leading male scorer with total number of 31 international goals

Jonathan David scored the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute after converting a failed clearance from Suriname, while Shaffelburg scored the second goal in the 30th minute after rounding Suriname’s goalkeeper before hitting the ball into the net.

Shaffelburg scored the second goal of the match in the 67th minute after converting a cross from Cyle Larin into a goal.

Canada dominated the match despite windy and wet conditions at the pitch in Toronto’s BMO Field, extending their unbeaten run to five games.

Suriname had a bad defense and were unbeaten to do much against Canada’s forward; their goalkeeper, Etienne Vaessen, faced sarcastic cheers from viewers.

Canada will play against Mexico in the semifinals. The head coach of Canada, Jesse Marsch, hailed his men’s improvement, with his team scoring 12 goals in 13 games under him. The team is now preparing for an exciting campaign next year.
