Bayer Leverkusen has continued their impressive Champions League run after conveniently beating RB Salzburg 5-0 on Tuesday even without the presence of their key forward Victor Boniface.

The star of the match was Florian Wirtz, who scored a double and also provided an assist that led to another goal. Wirtz scored the first goal of the match after successfully converting a penalty kick into a goal in the 8th minute after Samson Baidoo was penalized for committing a handball in the box.

Alejandro Grimaldo scored a goal that doubled the lead three minutes after Wirtz’s lead. Wirtz scored his second goal of the match in the 30th minute after he converted an assist from Grimaldo and conveniently dribbled two defenders to net a goal.

Another goal was scored by Patrik Schick in the 61st minute to cement the lead, converting Jeremie Frimpong’s cross. Aleix Garcia scored the finishing goal through an assist from Wirtz in the 72nd minute.

Leverkusen did not relent despite not playing one of their major strikers, Victor Boniface; they have now gathered 10 points in their Champions League. Manager Xabi Alonso hailed his men’s intensity and the ability to turn chances into goals.

Bayer Leverkusen will now expect to do the same against Inter Milan in their next game in the competition.
