Arsenal secured a dominant performance against Sporting on Tuesday to equal their best-ever away win in the UEFA Champions League after a 5-1 game.

This victory revives Arsenal’s chances in the Champions League and ends their no-goal streak in the last two matches and also displays their brilliant attacking performance.

The first goal came in as early as seven minutes by Gabriel Martinelli through a low cross assist by Jurrien Timber. The Gunners scored their second goal through an assist by England’s forward Bukayo Saka to Kai Havertz.

Just before the end of the first half, Gabriel Magalhães scored a goal to triple Arsenal’s lead through a header from a corner kick from Declan Rice.

Sporting, who were yet to lose a game in the European competition until this clash against Arsenal, responded in the early minutes of the second half after Gonçalo Inácio headed in from a corner.

The visitors refused to relent after Sporting CP’s goal, but rather they regained momentum and scored another goal through Bukayo Saka’s penalty kick in the 65th minute after Martin Ødegaard was fouled in the box.

Leandro Trossard scored the last goal through a header from a rebound by Mikel Merino in the last eight minutes to the end of the game.

The result moves Arsenal to seventh in the revamped standings with 10 points, ahead of Sporting on goal difference. The Gunners next face West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Arsenal’s next match will be in the domestic league on Saturday against West Ham United, where they hope to earn another three points.
