Nigerian forward and Ballon d’Or nominee Ademola Lookman scored a double in the first half to halt Napoli’s winning run as Atalanta secured a 3-0 victory on Sunday against the reigning Serie A champions.
Aside from the two goals from Ademola Lookman, Mateo Retegui sealed the win with his late goal in the 92nd minute against Napoli.
Former Chelsea’s coach, who now manages Napoli, Antonio Conte, planned to use his players to distract Lookman’s influence, but his technical efforts were unable to stop the Atalanta forward from performing his magic and displaying his skills.
Antonio Conte agreed that the Atalanta tactical was superior to his side and acknowledged the Nigerian forward’s relentless drive that destroyed Napoli’s defence, comparing Atalanta’s approach to Arsenal’s in the Champions League.
Ademola Lookman’s performances in the first speak of his exceptional form and his ability this season, scoring six goals in seven matches that he started, putting him among the golden-boot contenders and assist leaders in the league.
He has contributed a lot to many of Atalanta’s successes, reinforcing his ability and form as a key player in the league, Serie A.
