AC Milan secured a hard-earned 3-2 win on Tuesday over Slovan Bratislava, making it their third win in a row in the Champions League and boosting their confidence in reaching Round 16 directly.
While AC Milan won the game, the team still needs to do better in their subsequent games and work on their defense, which was overburdened in the first half before the team regained dominance in the second half.
The first goal was scored by Christian Pulisic, who successfully converted an assist from Tammy Abraham into a goal, but AC Milan’s defense was not too good, which gave their opponent the opportunity to equalize their counterattack by Tigran Barseghyan.
Despite a tense first half, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Milan almost losing to Slovan Bratislava due to their poor defense but thanks to Strahinja Pavlovic and Fikayo Tomori’s last-ditch clearances.
Bringing Rafael Leao in from the bench in the second half sparked Milan’s attack. He played the ball against goalkeeper Domikic Takac in the 68th minute of the match to make the game 2-1 in Milan’s advantage. Abraham scored a goal, marking his first in the Champions League since the last one he scored four years ago.
The late screamer of Nino Marcelli, who came in as a substitute, reignited Slovan’s hopes, while a red card shown to Marko Tolic destabilized them and stole away their chances of equalization.
AC Milan’s attacking ability was obvious, while their defense did not do much, leaving a concern for them in their subsequent matches.
