The No. 5 Texas Longhorns secure a 21-10 lead against the No. 25 Vanderbilt Commodores at halftime of today’s SEC matchup in Nashville.
Quinn Ewers, a quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, had a rough beginning, throwing an interception on the match’s opening drive after his pass was tipped. The quarterback did not wait longer before rebounding, finishing the first half with a beautiful 19 completions on 21 attempts for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Ewers made a complete 17 consecutive passes after the inception, showing resilience.
Vanderbilt Commodores responded to Ewer’s interception with an 18-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Diego Pavia. Longhorns tightened up its defense, keeping Pavia contained for the rest of the rest of the half.
Pavia was 5 of 8 passing for 55 yards with only one interception and had eight carries for 47 yards, which includes his rushing score.
Matthew Golden scored the first goal for the Texas Longhorns with a beautiful one-handed, three-yard touchdown grab in the first of the third, a drive that had a 32-yard catch-and-run by Moore Jr. keeps on with his strong first half by hauling in a 27-yard touchdown on a 3rd-and-8 following a Vanderbilt punt, extending Texas’s lead to 14-7. He added another 25-yard touchdown catch and downed a Texas punt at the one-yard line.
