Manchester United has sacked Erik ten Hag as its coach after poor performances since the beginning of the Premier League this season. His last match with the club was a 2-1 loss against West Ham, further pushing the club to 14th place on the league’s table with just three victories from nine matches.

The team sits in the 21st position of the 36 teams in the Europa League without winning a game but drawing all three opening games. Ten Hag’s assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has replaced the former coach as interim manager while the club looks for Ten Hag’s permanent replacement.

While sources confirm that the decision was challenging, the entire board agreed to it and communicated it to the former coach, Ten Hag, on Monday morning.

While the club extended Ten Hag’s contract after the club’s FA Cup victory against Manchester City in May, United decided to sack him just after three months, after one of their worst starts in Premier League history.

Manchester United are now looking for a replacement for their permanent coach, which will make it their sixth after the departure of legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. That reflects a difficult time as they hope to get the club back to its winning days in both local and European games.
