Freddie Freeman remains one of the top players in baseball for more than 10 years now. He won the 2020 National League MVP and was popular for his contributions to the Atlanta Braves during his 12-year career, securing a World Series title in his last season with the Braves a year later.
The player signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 18, 2022, where he continues to shine as one of the elite players in the league.
Freeman battles with an ankle injury all through the playoffs, where his discomfort was glaring while he made routine plays in the infield and ran out easy base hits. Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam on Friday, securing a 1-0 lead for the Dodgers in the World Series against the New York Yankees.
The player’s play confirms his ability as a postseason powerhouse. StatsCentre (@StatsCentre on “X”) made it known that his grand slam tied him for second place all-time in postseason home runs for first basemen, with 12, alongside Jim Thome. Albert Pujols is the only player ahead of them with 18.
Notable players who are included in the list are Lou Gehrig, John Olerud, Tino Martinez, Anthony Rizzo, and Freeman’s current teammate, Max Muncy.
It is still very possible that Freeman could be the only player in possession of second place until the World Series champion is decided with maybe three additional matches left in the best-of-seven championship series.
