Detroit Lions’ Wide Receiver Jameson Williams Faces Two-Game Suspension for Performance-Enhancing Substance Policy Violation

Detroit Lions Wide Receiver Jameson Williams Faces Two Game Suspension for Performance Enhancing Substance Policy Violation

According to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, multiple sources have stated that Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams will be serving a two-game suspension for breaking one of NFL’s policies, using performance-enhancing substances.

Though the specifics of the violation has not yet been revealed, such as the exact substances he used, Williams admitted he has “no choice but to take it on the chin.”

As of the time of writing, an official statement has not yet been released by the league. The 23-year-old, who was previously suspended for gambling in 2023, won’t be active till the middle of next month. In other words, he will be missing the Lions’ games against the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers.

Christian Booher, co-host of the Lone Wolves podcast, noted that although Williams has talent on the field, he must learn to avoid making mistakes in the future. “I still believe in Jameson Williams as a football player and as a person… But at some point, you just really have to dial in, and maybe this is a wake-up call he needed.”

Drafted by the Lions in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Williams has struggled to stay on the field due to injuries and suspensions. This season, he has achieved career-highs with 361 receiving yards and three touchdowns, averaging 21.2 yards per reception.

With Jameson Williams’ suspension, the Lions will rely on other wide receivers like Kalif Raymond and Tim Patrick.
