Aston Villa now sits in fourth place in the Premier League after Arsenal and before Brighton, as the team made a fantastic comeback to earn points after beating Fulham 3-1 in a match at Craven Cottage.
Before the match ended, both teams had reduced their roster from 11 players to 10 players. Fulham’s Raul Jimenez scored the first goal in a game that began with intensity while Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers could not wait much longer before he found the net that made the match a draw in the ninth minute.
While Fulham missed a couple of chances, Ollie Watkins converted his chance to a goal that put Villa in the lead before the hour mark. Hopes diminished on Fulham when its man Joachim Andersen received a red card, then an own goal scored by Issa Diop sealed the win for Aston Villa.
Despite the men being reduced to 10 when substitute Jaden Philogene was shown a red card late in the match, Unai Emery’s finally earned a deserving win. This win put Aston Villa in fourth place in the Premier League after earning 17 points.
Fulham currently sits in 9th place in the Premier League after it lost its last match, making it two consecutive losses. Aston Villa now tops Fulham with six points.
