Kirk Cousins Leads Falcons To Last-Minute Victory Over Eagles In Monday Night Football

Kirk Cousins spent the last week to address issues regarding his health and his right Week 1 performance. There were questions concerning whether his surgically repaired right Achilles tendon was completely healed.

The star silenced those that were concerned about his health status, at least for now, by helping the Atlanta Falcons defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 22-21.

Cousins’ 70-yard game-winning drive ended with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Drake London, a wide receiver with just 34 seconds remaining. The drive marked his fourth victory in his last five “Monday Night Football” and the debut soon for Raheem Morris as the Falcons’ full-time head coach.

Cousins completed 5-of-6 passes during the final drive. Research revealed that he now has six go-ahead passing touchdowns in the last minute of regulation or overtime since he became a starter in 2015. Derek Carr is the only player who has more in that span.

Cousins struggled in Week 1 in a 16-of-26 passing push with a touchdown and two interceptions in a defeat to the Steelers. He rebounded on Monday, going 20-of-29 for 241 yards and two touchdowns, getting a crucial victory before he faced the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.
