The American athlete received a bronze in the pommel horse event, adding to his impressive achievements at the Games.

On the podium were two-time world champion Rhys McClenaghan, who won gold by coming first and securing Ireland’s first Olympic gymnastics medal, and Nariman Kurbanov of Kazakhstan, who earned a silver medal with 15.433 points for coming second.

McClenaghan had to choke back tears even before his name was announced. He shouted in delight and cried when his winning score of 15.533 points was made public.
