Joe Cole Holds Antony Responsible For Disappointing Defeat Against Brighton

An ex-player and pundit, Joe Cole, gave a non-friendly critique of Antony after an embarrassing 2-1 defeat against Manchester to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The pundit was too directly accusing Antony of being a major reason for United’s defeat.

Antony has not performed as expected since joining the Red Devils in 2022. Cole had a wonderful start in his first game for the club, scoring in his first feature. The Brazilian has only scored a total of 11 goals and five assists in 83 appearances. Antony did not disagree that last season was not their best while promising to do better to up his game.

Many fans are beginning to lose hope in the former Ajax winger, who has yet to provide the value of the £86 million that was spent to seal his contract.

Cole chastises Antony’s game with the suggestion that he might be discarded by Manchester United.

He speculated, “He probably wants out the door at United, and they probably want him out as well.”

Antony was rumored to be offset earlier in the transfer window, with the belief that he would not feature in Manchester United’s game this season.

The Brazilian was linked with a move to Turkish club Besiktas during United’s pre-season tour in the U.S. It was also reported that Catalan giant FC Barcelona did not agree to a swap deal that involved Antony and Frenkie de Jong, which would have seen the latter join United.

Although Al Nassr has shown interest in acquiring Antony, the contract is still a fat guess that has not materialized.
