The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, and the former—and potentially future—most powerful man, Donald Trump, found common ground on nearly every issue.
The entrepreneurship chief opened up his X platform, giving Donald Trump an avenue to promote his views as he tries very hard to suppress the growing popularity of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, who is currently the vice president.
Their discussion marked another turnaround in a presidential campaign full of what is yet unknown, including an assassination attempt on the Republican candidate and President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race.
Since Harris entered the presidential race, she has continued to gather popularity and support while Trump battles for traction. Musk is seen as using his influence and platform to tutor Trump on how to better confront Harris during their lengthy discussion.
Musk agreed with Trump’s portrayal of Harris as a radical leftist and praised him by saying that Trump was strong while his Democratic opponents were the opposite. He referenced America’s adversaries and asked, “Do they fear the American president, or do they see someone they don’t respect or fear? Let’s consider the footage of the assassination attempt—President Trump is like, ‘don’t mess with me.’”
Musk left no doubt about his desire to see former President Trump win a second term after losing to Biden in 2020, having already endorsed Trump. “You are the path to prosperity, and I believe Kamala is the opposite,” Musk told Trump.
Musk provided the Republican nominee with an audience of at least 1.3 million concurrent listeners at a critical low point in Trump’s campaign, with substantial business interests hinging on favorable treatment from the next administration. He noted that the content being concocted would reach at least 100 million people in the coming days.
