It was a remarkable day for Erling Haaland, as he scored on his 100th Manchester City appearance during their 2-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first match of the season.

Haaland scored the first goal of the match at 18 minutes with a dinked finish over Robert Sanchez, making it his 91st City goal since he joined the club from Borussia Dortmund two years ago.

Mateo Kovacic, who used to play midfield for the Blues, sealed the win for Manchester City after scoring with a shot from just outside the penalty area.

The match started on a light mode but quickly gained life after Kevin de Bruyne curled just wide from the edge of the box. Haaland immediately scored the city’s first goal before Sanchez saved a shot that was fired by Jeremy Doku’s deflected drive.

It became a surprising month for Nicolas Jackson, as he thought he had equalized after City goalkeeper Ederson fumbled Cole Palmer’s shot into his path, but Jackson had just strayed offside.

The Senegal forward then fired a first-time shot straight at Ederson as Chelsea tried to make it a draw after the break.

Haaland almost had a second goal while Rico Lewis’s goal was disallowed before Kovacic sealed the game with a goal that ended it at 2-0.
