The PGA of America has appointed Keegan Bradley as the captain for the 2025 US Ryder Cup team. At 38 years old, Bradley becomes the youngest to lead the American side since Arnold Palmer’s playing captaincy at age 34 in 1963.
Many had speculated that Tiger Woods might take the helm. However, Woods’ deep involvement in ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf appears to have influenced his decision to step back from the captaincy role.
Now Keegan Bradley, a former PGA Champion and six-time PGA Tour winner, will be bringing a mix of competitive experience and youthful energy to the position. Despite his relatively young age as a captain, he has participated in two Ryder Cups as a player, in 2012 and 2014.
The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, a course familiar to Bradley from his college days at nearby St. John’s University. This local connection could prove advantageous as the US team seeks to reclaim the cup after a disappointing loss in Rome in 2023.
PGA of America president John Lindert expressed confidence in Bradley’s leadership, citing his passion for the event and strong relationships within the golfing community.
“We are confident that with Keegan at the helm, the 2025 US Ryder Cup Team will compete at Bethpage with the same confidence and determination that has defined his career.”
Bradley himself acknowledged the honor, stating,
“My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger,” he said. “The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025.”
As preparations begin, all eyes will be on Keegan Bradley to see how he shapes his team and strategy for the challenging contest ahead at Bethpage Black.
