The University of Tennessee baseball team reached the Men’s College World Series final for the first time since 1951 after they beat Florida 7-2 on Wednesday.
It took only three batters for Tennessee to take the lead in Wednesday’s contest and they stayed ahead for the rest of the game.
They scored three runs in the first inning and led 5-0 by the end of the third inning. On the mound, Zander Sechrist pitched a brilliant 6⅓ innings for Tennessee, while Florida had trouble with their coordination. They kept making mistakes.
The University of Tennessee baseball team are arguably the number one team in college baseball throughout the 2024 season, and they are now two wins away from the team’s first national championship.
No program has more wins over the last four seasons than Tennessee, and now the Volunteers will have a chance to add a title to support those successful seasons.
Blake Burke sealed the win for the volunteers after he sent the ball into the right centerfield stands for a home run in the final inning.
The No. 1 national seed Tennessee Volunteers face off against No. 3 Texas A&M in the 2024 Men’s College World Series finals tomorrow night in Game 1.
Both teams went undefeated through the MCWS bracket, and Tennessee became the first No. 1 national seed to advance to the finals since 2009.
This is the third time in four years the MCWS finals has featured an SEC matchup, and the streak of four-straight SEC MCWS champions will continue.
