Parisans To Shit In River Seine To Protest High Cost Of Olympics

People in Paris, France want to poop en mass in river Seine to protest the high cost spent in cleaning the river for the swimming contest in the upcoming Olympics.

Over $2.2 billion has already been spent to purify the river for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The river has been out of use for 101 years because of poor water quality.

however, despite the huge sum spent on cleaning up for river, water-testing experts concluded that the river was still too dirty, hence, the open water swimming and triathlon Olympic events coming up in just over a month’s time cannot be held there.

Test on the water revealed high rates of fecal matter and bacteria*, including E.coli.

People got angry over the huge sum spent on the Olympic preparation as well as the likely sum to be spent to put the river clean enough to hold the swimming contest. They argued that the people are been neglected and rather than attend to their needs, the government is focused on what was considered secondary.

In protest, a group sprang up and informed the people to participate in a pooping contest in the Seine river, with pictures of toilets lined up along the banks of the popular French river, going viral on social media.

“The problem is that all the resources* that have been invested* have not been to resolve all the social problems* we have at the moment,” they said. “We have the feeling of being abandoned. We see where their priority* was.”

French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo had said they would swim in the Seine river ahead of the Olympics. However, they canceled their plans citing political reasons.

The protesters were advised to poop at a certain time so from their location so it could get to the spot of the Seine river where Macron and Hidalgo would have their maiden swim.
