In a recent episode of “The Kardashians,” Kylie Jenner shared a vulnerable moment with her sister Kendall, discussing the impact of constant public scrutiny on her appearance and self-esteem. The makeup mogul revealed how years of criticism have affected her, despite her efforts to maintain confidence.
“It’s like, a miracle that I still have confidence, and I can still look in the mirror and think that I’m pretty,” Kylie admitted, addressing speculation about her looks, particularly following her appearance at Paris Fashion Week. She explained that her decision to wear less makeup at the event led to unexpected criticism when unflattering photos circulated online.
Kylie Jenner emphasized that certain facial features, like lines on her cheeks, have been present since childhood: “You can look at pictures of me since I’m 13. I just have these lines, but I’ve had them since I was a child.”
During the emotional conversation, Kylie confirmed that she has been on a journey of dissolving some of her lip fillers over the past year. She expressed frustration at the persistent narrative that she has extensively altered her appearance, stating,
“People have been talking about my looks since I was 12, 13 — before I even got lip filler, people talked about my looks.”
Kendall Jenner supported her sister, suggesting that their family is often “dehumanized” by the public and media.
“We’re dehumanized, like, they don’t think that there’s any rules with us,” Kendall said. “Whereas, if you talked the same way you do about us about any other woman, people would come to their defense all day long.”
Despite the emotional toll, Kylie still asserted that she feels “really strong” and that she believes she “was put in this position for a reason.”
“I do think of myself as a confident person. I’m so grateful, so blessed that I can wake up and look in the mirror and like what I see and think that I’m beautiful. But I’m also human, and there’s only so much someone can take.”
