The shooting occurred around 4;40 pm on Sunday at the warehouse in West Jefferson, Ohio. There is no known reason as to why the employee wanted to shoot and kill his supervisor. The police also said he had no criminal history.
After failing to kill his supervisor, the employee left the building, which had about 100 workers at that time. He was spotted later in a vehicle in Columbus by Madison County authorities. Yusuf then left the vehicle and began firing at a Columbus officer after he was ordered to stop. The police officer was hit by a bullet but was not seriously injured due to his bulletproof vest.
According to records, Yusuf was a contracted security guard at the Amazon fulfillment center, and had been training for around two weeks.
