While A-list performers like Lana Del Rey and No Doubt commanded the main stages at Coachella’s opening weekend, it was Taylor Swift who stole the headlines as the festival’s biggest attraction – despite never actually taking the mic herself.
The pop superstar descended on the annual music extravaganza in Indio, California alongside her boyfriend, football star Travis Kelce. But rather than delivering a headlining set, Swift opted to immerse herself fully in the Coachella crowd experience.
She was spotted snuggling with Kelce, bobbing along to the thumping beats of electronic artist Dom Dolla’s set amongst thousands of fellow festival-goers.
Taylor Swift also turned out to support her longtime friend and creative collaborator Jack Antonoff, whose band Bleachers performed over the weekend. Even at one point, rising rapper Ice Spice made sure to acknowledge Swift’s presence during her Coachella debut.
While the media frenzy over Taylor Swift’s festival visit without an accompanying performance may seem puzzling, it speaks volumes about her star power and celebrity. Her every move, from holding hands with Kelce to braving the crowds, generated feverish coverage that arguably overshadowed some of the actual music acts.
