A state senator Nicole Mitchell from Minnesota finds herself entangled in legal proceedings following an incident involving a burglary at a residence in Detroit Lakes earlier this week.

The Becker County Attorney’s Office pressed charges against Sen. Nicole Mitchell, aged 49 and representing DFL-Woodbury, citing her involvement in a first-degree burglary, as reported on Tuesday.

Authorities responded to a distress call around 4:45 a.m. on Monday, prompting their swift arrival at a property located off Granger Road and Long Avenue. The homeowner’s report of an ongoing burglary spurred the intervention.

Subsequently, law enforcement discovered Mitchell inside the premises, leading to her apprehension and subsequent booking into Becker County Jail.

Addressing the allegations, Mitchell vehemently denied any wrongdoing through a statement shared on her official state senator’s Facebook page.

In her social media declaration, Mitchell refuted claims of theft, asserting her entry into the residence stemmed from genuine concern for a family member grappling with Alzheimer’s.

Describing the episode as a “true tragedy” for her family, Mitchell expressed her desire for privacy surrounding the matter’s resolution. Additionally, she extended gratitude towards supporters from both sides of the political spectrum for their unwavering backing during this challenging period.
