Ryan Reynolds payed tribute to his close friend, Michael J. Fox, marking a significant moment.
Acknowledged by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential individuals, Fox received heartfelt words from Reynolds, reflecting on Fox’s profound impact on his own family and beyond.
In his tribute, Reynolds speaks warmly of his deep connection with Fox, describing him as funny, warm, handsome, and incredibly intelligent.
Having been diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s disease at just 29 in 1991, Fox embarked on a mission to combat the illness. He established the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in 2000, dedicated to finding a cure and advancing therapies.
Reynolds acknowledges Fox’s support for his late father, James Reynolds, who battled Parkinson’s for nearly two decades. Fox’s influence extended beyond his father, offering solace to millions facing similar challenges. James Reynolds passed away in 2015.
Celebrating Fox as a cinematic icon whose wit and charm have touched lives globally, Reynolds shares a personal anecdote about watching “Back to the Future” with his daughter, who now adores the film.
“I know how lucky I am to call Mike a friend,” he wrote, adding that his daughter still has “no idea” that her dad knows Marty McFly. “I don’t need to teach my daughter the level of compassion Mike has mastered. Or teach her to tell stories the way Mike tells stories.”
“I need to teach her that it’s OK to fall a lot,” Reynolds wrote. “It’s the absolute best way to know you’re flying.”
