No Doubt’s highly anticipated reunion set at the Coachella music festival over the weekend successfully bridged their ’90s origins with the festival’s youthful audience, featuring a surprise collaboration with Olivia Rodrigo.
Making an unexpected appearance on Saturday, the “Drivers License” singer joined original band members Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, and Adrian Young during their performance of the 2000 hit “Bathwater,” a track released almost three years before Rodrigo’s birth.
Saturday’s performance marked the first live reunion of Stefani, Kanal, Dumont, and Young in approximately a decade, delighting fans with a nostalgic setlist that included hits like “Sunday Morning,” “Don’t Speak,” and “Spiderwebs.” Throughout the performance, archival footage from the band’s punk heyday played on video screens, adding to the atmosphere, as documented on social media.
Stefani engaged with the Coachella crowd, initiating a lively call-and-response moment during “I’m Just a Girl,” where she encouraged all the boys in attendance to join in, as captured in online footage.
Originally forming in the mid-’90s, No Doubt gained prominence with their enduring 1995 album “Tragic Kingdom,” which topped the Billboard 200 chart and produced numerous hits, many of which were revisited during their Coachella appearance.
Following their initial success, band members pursued solo ventures, with Stefani releasing her debut solo album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” in 2004, followed by three more solo releases.
No Doubt is scheduled to grace the Coachella stage once more during the festival’s second weekend, promising another memorable performance.
