Rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again faces six charges after his arrest in Utah, including possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and involvement in a pattern of unlawful activity, both of which are serious Class 2 felony charges.
The 24-year-old artist, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden and known previously as NBA YoungBoy, was apprehended by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office at 2:50 p.m., as documented in police records. He remains in custody with no bail option.
Among the charges laid against YoungBoy are attempts to acquire drugs or prescriptions, identity fraud, forgery, and possession of other controlled substances.
Originating from Louisiana, the rapper has collaborated with notable artists like Migos, Juice Wrld, and Tyler, the Creator. His recent run-ins with the law stem from arrests during a 2020 music video shoot, where he allegedly possessed two firearms alongside 16 others facing drug and weapon charges during the shoot. Legal proceedings concerning these charges are ongoing.
In December, a federal judge modified his house arrest conditions to allow access to mental health treatment, but denied YoungBoy’s request for additional studio time.
In a separate incident in 2021, YoungBoy was acquitted of knowingly possessing a firearm during an arrest in Los Angeles. The rapper was stopped by LAPD and subsequently arrested after a short pursuit, during which officers discovered a pistol beneath the passenger seat of his vehicle.
During this trial, the use of YoungBoy’s lyrics as evidence was prohibited by a district court judge. In a 2023 Billboard feature, the rapper expressed remorse for his violent lyrics and indicated his intention to convert to Mormonism.
