In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have added another cornerback to their roster, selecting Ennis Rakestraw Jr. from Missouri. This pick comes after they also drafted Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold.
Rakestraw was chosen 61st overall in the second round. Despite not fitting the typical size and speed profile, he brings physicality and competitiveness to the game, making him appealing to defensive back coaches.
According to his NFL profile, Rakestraw excels in press coverage, demonstrating body control and anticipation, which allows him to excel in man coverage over the first two levels of the field.
The announcement of Rakestraw’s selection was accompanied by the presence of Detroit legend Barry Sanders and Mayor Mike Duggan.
“It’s a great time to be in Detroit,” Duggan said.
