The music may still be pumping, but one lyric took an unexpected turn.
During a surprise appearance at Coachella alongside Reneé Rapp, Kesha shook things up by altering a long-standing lyric in her hit song “TikTok,” which originally referenced Sean “Diddy” Combs.
While the usual opening line goes, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy,” Kesha, on April 14, opted for a change, belting out, “Wake up in the morning like f–k P. Diddy.” Videos shared on social media captured both Kesha and Rapp raising their middle fingers during the performance.
E! News reached out to Combs’ representatives for comment but received no response.
This lyrical switch comes amidst legal troubles for the rapper and isn’t the first time Kesha has made this alteration. Back in November, during a performance in Los Angeles as part of her “Only Love” tour, the 37-year-old opted for a different rendition, singing, “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This particular performance came on the heels of Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura — Combs’ former girlfriend of over a decade — filing a lawsuit against him in New York, alleging physical and sexual abuse throughout their relationship.
Further adding to Combs’ legal woes, two more lawsuits were filed against the “I’ll Be Missing You” artist in November over separate alleged incidents of sexual misconduct. While he denied any wrongdoing and settled with Ventura on November 18, additional legal challenges emerged.
In December 2022, a new lawsuit was filed against both Combs and his son Christian, alleging sexual assault during a yacht trip. Both parties vehemently denied the accusation through their attorney.
Then, on March 25, federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed search warrants at Combs’ properties in Miami and Los Angeles. A spokesperson for HSI New York confirmed the investigation’s ongoing nature, emphasizing cooperation with local law enforcement partners.
In response to the searches, Combs’ attorney released a statement, asserting his client’s cooperation and condemning what he termed a “witch hunt” based on unsubstantiated civil accusations.
Reports from NBC News suggest that firearms were discovered at both properties during the investigation. Additionally, agents seized Combs’ phones in Miami before he departed for the Bahamas.
While the investigation continues, sources close to the matter revealed to NBC News that the raid relates to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and involvement in illegal narcotics and firearms distribution. Federal officials interviewed three women and one man in Manhattan regarding the investigation.
