Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, from the far-right faction, has sustained minor injuries and has been transported to a hospital following a car collision, as per Israeli law enforcement.
Video circulating on social media depicts a vehicle overturned at the scene.
Authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding the incident, as stated in the police report referenced by Reuters.
Reports from Israeli media indicate that Ben-Gvir was returning from the site of a stabbing in Ramle, situated near Tel Aviv.
An 18-year-old woman was critically wounded in the attack, according to Magen David Adom, the Israeli emergency service, which confirmed the perpetrator was subdued.
Ben-Gvir, a controversial figure within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s interim government, has previously advocated for a robust military retaliation by Israel against Iran, following Tehran’s missile and drone assault on Israel, which was triggered by an Israeli strike resulting in the demise of senior Iranian military figures at the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Additionally, Ben-Gvir has endorsed the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza and supported initiatives for the resettlement of Jewish communities in the region.
