Janelle Brown, one of the stars of the reality show Sister Wives, has announced the death of her son Garrison Brown, who was 25 years old. Garrison, who was the son of Janelle and her estranged husband Kody Brown, was found dead on Tuesday in an apparent suicide, according to TMZ.

Janelle shared the news on her Instagram account on the same day, posting two photos of her son and a heartfelt message. She wrote,

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.”

Kody, who is the patriarch of the polygamous family featured on the show, also posted the same message and photos on his own Instagram account. The couple, who have been married for 28 years, separated last year, but remained co-parents to their six children, including Garrison.

Garrison Brown was one of the 18 children of Kody, who has four wives: Janelle, Meri, Christine, and Robyn. He appeared on the show since it debuted on TLC in 2010, when he was a child. The show follows the lives and challenges of the unconventional family, who practice a fundamentalist Mormon faith that allows polygamy.

Garrison’s death was confirmed by the Flagstaff Police Department, which said that he was found dead by his brother Gabriel in their home. The police said that there was no indication of foul play and that the case was being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division. They said,

“At this time there is not any indication of foul play, and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating,”

The CDC recommends that people who are struggling with suicidal thoughts or know someone who is, should call 988 or chat online with a trained counselor. Alternatively, they can also text 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line, which provides free and confidential support.
