Just months after her highly publicized release from prison, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has announced a major life change – a separation from her husband of less than a year, Ryan Anderson.
Blanchard, who gained notoriety for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother Dee Dee, shared the news of her split from Anderson in a statement on her private Facebook account.
“Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou,” Blanchard wrote. “I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find…who I am.”
The abrupt separation comes just three months after Blanchard’s release from prison, where she had served 7 years of a 10-year sentence for second-degree murder. While incarcerated, she had struck up a relationship with the special education teacher from Louisiana, marrying him in July 2022 while still behind bars.
Upon her release in December, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson wasted no time moving in together, with the latter telling Entertainment Tonight at the time: “It’s what we both wanted.” They had even discussed plans to start a family eventually.
However, it appears the intense public scrutiny and outside pressures rapidly took a toll on their whirlwind romance. Weeks before announcing the separation, Blanchard scrubbed her popular social media accounts – including an Instagram page with over 7 million followers.
Explaining her departure from those platforms, she cited a desire to “live my authentic life” away from “the public scrutiny” and “microscope” of social media fame. Sources indicated her parole officer had advised the social media blackout to avoid potential violations.
So in one fell swoop, the 32-year-old woman whose shocking life story continues to captivate true crime audiences has gone hugely introspective – shedding her burgeoning influencer persona and her fairytale lockup marriage to embark on a period of self-discovery with family.
