Olivier Giroud secured the decisive goal as France staged a comeback to defeat Chile in a friendly held in Marseille.
Chile took an early lead with Marcelino Nunez’s strike into the bottom left corner in the sixth minute, surprising the hosts.
France equalized through Youssouf Fofana’s deflected shot, followed by Randal Kolo Muani’s header to put them ahead, before Giroud’s 57th international goal sealed the win.
Despite Dario Osorio’s late goal for Chile, it wasn’t enough to prevent their first defeat under new coach Ricardo Gareca.
This victory was a much-needed one for Didier Deschamps, especially after France’s 2-0 loss to Germany just days earlier.
Deschamps made several changes to the lineup, retaining only captain Kylian Mbappe and midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from the previous match.
However, he will be pleased with how his team responded to falling behind, ultimately securing a morale-boosting victory through Giroud’s goal in the 72nd minute.
