The Rookie, the ABC series starring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, a middle-aged rookie cop in the LAPD, is back for its sixth season after a long hiatus.
The show, which is based on a true story, has been a hit since it dropped its first season thanks to the perfect amount of action, humor, and drama it carries.
Here are some of the things you can look forward to in the new season of The Rookie.
The fate of Officer Thorsen:
The Season 5 finale ended with a shocking cliffhanger, as Officer Aaron Thorsen (played by Tru Valentino) was shot and left in a coma. The Season 6 trailer revealed that he flatlined in the hospital, leaving his survival uncertain. Will Thorsen make it out alive, or will the show lose another beloved character?
The 100th episode milestone:
The Rookie will celebrate its 100th episode this season, a rare achievement for any broadcast show. The cast and crew have teased that the episode will be a special one, with some surprises and callbacks for the fans.
The romance between Nolan and Bailey:
Ah yes! One of the bright spots of Season 5 was the blossoming relationship between Nolan and Bailey (played by Jenna Dewan), a firefighter who helped him with a case. The two got engaged in the finale, but will they make it to the altar? Or will their different careers and lifestyles get in the way?
The new challenges and cases:
The Rookie is known for its realistic and diverse portrayal of police work, tackling various issues and scenarios that cops face in Los Angeles. Season 6 will continue to explore the challenges and dangers of being a rookie cop, as well as the personal and professional growth of the characters. Some of the cases that the team will deal with include kidnappings, severed limbs, undercover operations, and more.
The guest stars and crossover potential:
The Rookie has featured some popular guest stars in the past, such as Jon Huertas, Ali Larter, Pete Davidson, and Toks Olagundoye. Season 6 will likely bring more familiar faces to the show, as well as some potential crossover opportunities with other ABC shows. For instance, Fillion has expressed his interest in having a crossover with The Good Doctor, another hit show on the network.
