Rebecca Ferguson, the star of “Dune” and “Mission: Impossible” franchise, has revealed that she once had a terrible experience with a co-star who verbally abused her on set and made her cry.
In an interview with the “Reign with Josh Smith” podcast, Ferguson said that she worked on a film with an “absolute idiot of a co-star” who was “being so insecure and angry” because they “couldn’t get the scenes out.”
According to her, the co-star would look at her in front of the whole crew and say, “You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with? What is this?”
Ferguson said that she felt “so vulnerable and uncomfortable” that she got screamed at and she would cry walking off set. She also said that because the co-star was number one on the call sheet, there was no “safety net” for her and “no one had her back”.
The actress recalled that the incident was the first time she ever stood up for herself as an actor on a set. She ended up confronting the unnamed co-star the next day and told them to “get off my set” and that she never wanted to see them again.
When that did not happen, she requested to act to the back of their head instead of facing them.
Rebecca Ferguson did not name the movie or the co-star in question, but her comments sparked a lot of speculation and curiosity among fans and fellow actors.
Dwayne Johnson, who co-starred with her in 2014’s “Hercules”, expressed his support for her on X and said that he would like to find out who did this to her. He called her his “guardian angel sent from heaven” and said that he loved her.
Ferguson is known for playing strong and complex female characters in movies and series such as “The Greatest Showman” and “Silo”. She returns as Lady Jessica in “Dune: Part Two”, which hits theaters on Friday.
