Machine Gun Kelly has made a surprising move by changing his name on Spotify. The artist, whose real name is Colson Baker, has shortened his stage name to mgk, which are his initials.
He did not announce doing so officially or explain the reason behind it but some fans quickly took notice of it and are speculating that the name change is a sign of a new musical direction or a new album.
Others wondered if it is related to his controversial stage name which many times have been linked to gun violence and gun control, a problematic issue the U.S. are still trying to combat.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, he also changed his name to “mgk” but kept his handle as @machinegunkelly.
Machine Gun Kelly is known for his rap and rock music, as well as his acting career and his relationship with actress Megan Fox. He rose to fame with his mixtapes and his feud with Eminem, and he has collaborated with artists such as Travis Barker, Halsey, and Blackbear.
