The Silt Police Department is investigating a Saturday night incident at a restaurant involving U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson Boebert.
Silt police Chief Mike Kite said that the investigation was going on but did not provide details.
Police were called to the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt on Saturday night, but Kite declined to describe the nature of the incident or the accusations.
“We have a lot of facts and stuff to get sorted out,” Kite said.
No one was taken into custody at the restaurant, he said.
In a statement to The Denver Post from her campaign manager, Boebert said, “This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I’m moving. I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested.”
Jayson Boebert told The Denver Post in a short phone interview that he called the Silt Police Department on Sunday morning and told police he does not want to press charges.
“I don’t want nothing to happen,” Jayson Boebert said. “Her and I were working through a difficult conversation.”
Lauren Boebert, who represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, filed for divorce from her husband in April, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce became final in October.
The incident involving the Boeberts was first reported Saturday night by American Muckrakers, a political group working to oust the second-term congresswoman, saying that Lauren had punched Jayson twice. But the police are yet to confirm it.
Lauren Boebert was arrested and summonsed at least four times for petty crimes before being elected to Congress. One of those cases was dropped.
