The Michigan Tech Huskies women’s basketball team fell to a season-low 30 points against top-ranked Grand Valley State on Thursday.
“It was a tough game for us,” coach Sam Clayton said. “Nothing went our way and we’re going to have to compete better come Saturday.”
Michigan Tech (5-6, 1-2 GLIAC) shot just 5-for-36 from the field through three quarters, as Grand Valley State (11-1, 2-0 GLIAC) shot 38.8 percent from the field, connecting on six 3-pointers while going 17-for-19 from the charity stripe.
With only a quarter to play, the Techies we’re trailing by a whooping 46 points.
The Huskies played much better in the fourth quarter, doubling the total points scored in the final 12 minutes.
First year guard Dani Nuest had four points in the final frame of the contest, but the lakers got 8 more points and got through the finish line.
Grand Valley State had a well-balanced attack, with post players Rylie Bisballe and Megan Crow each accumulating 12 points a piece.
Ellie Droste led the Lakers with 13 points, while Lexi Plitzuweit produced a team-leading nine rebounds.
