Firefighters battled a huge blaze at the South Florida home of Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill on Wednesday afternoon.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed heavy smoke coming from the mansion as crews poured water onto it. Firefighters cut holes in the roof to try to get ahead of the blaze.
The fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m. at the home in the 16000 block of Berkshire Court in a gated community in Southwest Ranches.
Davie Fire Rescue’s Bob Taylor said the fire was limited to the attic and roof but said there was smoke damage in much of the house.
Hill, the Dolphins’ star wide receiver, was at practice with the team Wednesday and not at home when it broke out.
The fire appeared to be extinguished by around 3 p.m., though a large hole could be seen on one portion of the roof.
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said it was unknown whether the family could stay in the home Wednesday night but said Hill was thankful no one was injured.
“It’s very difficult for anyone to have their home catch on fire, but Tyreek and his family are handling it with much poise as you can hope, he was grateful to the firefighters who saved his home,” Rosenhaus said.
Hill, 29, was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Dolphins in 2022 and signed a four-year contract extension worth a reported $120 million.
