A tragic incident unfolded as a U.S-registered private aircraft, carrying four individuals, crashed shortly after departing from J.F. Mitchell airport on Bequia in the Grenadines, resulting in the loss of all lives onboard.

Reports from St Vincent Times indicate that three individuals, all US residents from the same family, lost their lives in the single-engine plane crash near Petit Nevis while on vacation in Bequia.

The three passengers, including an adult and two children, were concluding their vacation in Bequia and were departing the island on the ill-fated flight.

The plane, piloted by its captain and carrying three passengers, took off from Bequia after midday on January 4, bound for Hewanorra airport in St. Lucia.

Promptly responding to the crash, nearby fishermen, in collaboration with the Coast Guard, successfully recovered the deceased individuals.

Videos captured by La Pompe community members documented the aircraft’s descent leading to the tragic crash. Residents reported an unusual sound emitted by the plane during takeoff.

According to an aviation specialist, the airplane appeared to experience a stall immediately after beginning its ascent.

A stall in aerodynamics and aviation occurs when the angle of attack surpasses a specific threshold, causing a decrease in lift. The critical angle of attack signifies this threshold, and if exceeded, the aircraft descends, exacerbating the angle of attack and resulting in additional lift loss.

The Coast Guard is currently transporting the retrieved corpses to the mainland.
