Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said that his side are hyped to win their first title of the season against arch-rivals Barcelona.
The head coach spoke to the press on Saturday morning ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.
“We are good. There is calmness in the squad. The team has recovered and is emotionally motivated. “We are close to winning a title, and we will try to do it.”
“I’m going to do something, I thank you for your interest. But don’t worry, I’m going to do something. We signed Kepa to be a starter, then he had an injury. Lunin deserves the competition, not because of Kepa’s demerit but because of Lunin’s good performances,” the Italian said.
“I feel like now I can’t choose a starter and a substitute. The important thing is that they both understand it. And they have understood it.”
“The matches are prepared with 11 players. I never think beforehand what changes I am going to make. Every game changes in terms of details and dynamics. It is difficult to think about a preventive change unless it is due to an injury, like with Vinicius. In a game like tomorrow’s, I don’t think about the changes beforehand. Then, due to fatigue, a change in strategy, or because a player is doing poorly, I make changes. I trust that those on the bench are prepared. At Madrid, they always are,” he added.
When Ancelotti was asked about Xavi, he said.
“Xavi is doing an excellent job. He doesn’t have the experience that I have because he is very young. His career is very good, it helps him to have been one of the best midfielders in the world in the past. The idea of how he saw football is helping him.
“I would be surprised if Xavi said he doesn’t like winning. It will be close like every Clásico.”
