The two biggest winners at the annual Latin Grammy Awards were Shakira and Karol G.

At the 24th edition of the show, which honors accomplishments in the Latin music industry, the two took home three awards apiece.

“I find it astounding that it has impacted the lives of so many others,” declared Karol G upon receiving the album of the year award.

The ceremony, which took place in Seville, Spain, was held for the first time outside of the United States.

Shakira won both Pop Song of the Year and Song of the Year for Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53. Best urban/fusion performance went to her and Karol G’s joint song, TQG.

The Colombian popstar dedicated her awards to her children, saying: “I have promised them I will be happy.”

She mentioned “tough moments” as well, maybe alluding to her breakup with football player Gerard Pique and problems with her Spanish tax situation.

“I also want to share this with my Spanish audience, who has been there with me through the good and bad times.

“In those hard and tough moments I’ve experienced here in this country, I have loved so much but at no moment has stopped giving me love and support.”

Fellow Colombian star Karol G said she was “happy to have some of those who teamed up” with her at the show.

“This is a very special album that changed my life,” she added.

Rosalia, a Spanish singer-songwriter, performed a stirring tribute to the art of flamenco to start the show, but she was unsuccessful in winning anything.

Laura Pausini was the only artist of non-Iberian descent to win Person of the Year, marking another historical first.
