Las Palmas have beaten La Liga giants, Atletico Madrid in a shocking 2-1 win on Friday, ending their 8-game winning streak and sitting at 9th on the table with 17 points.
Atletico, who had won their previous six league games, are third with 25 points, just three points behind leaders Real Madrid.
Las Palmas got the first goal of the game in the 51st minute after their Captain Rodriguez.
Ramirez doubled their lead in the 75th minute after the home side pressured Madrid to give up the ball in their half.
Alvaro Morata pulled one back for the visitors in the 83rd minute. But it was not enough to keep Atletico in the fight.
Earlier, Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid, and they have been on Cloud nine, winning six league games in a row.
Diego Simeone’s men have missed the chance to move top of La Liga for the week.
Speaking about the match, Diego Simeone said:
“They [Las Palmas] played very well, deserved the victory. We did not play the game we wanted to play.
“Congratulations to the opponent, they played a great game and deserved it.
“The boys gave everything. They have been making an effort game after game with great determination.
“In the first half we had possible goal situations, and in the second too. This time it couldn’t be.”
Instead, Real Madrid can now go six points clear of their city rivals if they beat Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
