Boygenius performed in Studio 8H, bringing songs from their much-anticipated debut album, The Record.
The band, led by Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker, recently received a staggering six Grammy nominations. On November 11, they made their Saturday Night Live debut, performing energetic renditions of “Not Strong Enough” and “Satanist.”
Boygenius began with “Not Strong Enough,” which peaked at the top of Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay in June, and was introduced by second-time presenter Timothée Chalamet. The band paid homage to The Beatles and their Rolling Stone magazine cover featuring Nirvana by dressing in black and white outfits for the performance. The group reappeared wearing the same stylish attire, delivering a somber performance of their song “Satanist.”
Only a few weeks had passed since the publication of Boygenius’s brand-new, four-track EP, The Rest. In April 2021, Bridgers made a memorable guitar-destroying performance while performing as a musical guest in Studio 8H.
The trio learned on Friday, Nov. 10, that they had been nominated for six Grammy Awards in 2024, including nominations for “Not Strong Enough” and “The Record” as records and albums of the year.
“It feels like I’m in a simultaneous come-up and come-down from a high,” Dacus told Billboard after the nominations were announced.
