Austria Beats Azerbaijan To Qualify For Euro 2024

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer’s lone goal was enough for Austria to finish in the top two of Group F and qualify for Euro 2024.

He scored a penalty three minutes after coming on as a half-time substitute to book an appearance at a third straight European Championship for Austria.

This is coming after their defeat to Belgium.

Azerbaijan would be leaving, while Austria would join the eight countries now guaranteed a place in the Euro 2024 in Germany.

Azerbaijan almost leveled the game but Tural Bayramov missed a glorious late chance.

A fifth win in seven matches pushed Austria 10 points clear of third-placed Sweden, who will have to go through the play-offs to avoid failing to qualify for the first time since Euro 96.

Austria is level on 16 points with Belgium but has played a game more than the unbeaten group leaders.

They will be playing against Estonia in the next international break.
