Auburn football may be without an effective running back versus Texas A&M due to sophomore running back Damari Alston getting destroyed on a toss play and taking some time to get up in the first quarter.
Alston stayed on the ground for a while before rising and leaving while carrying a towel over his head and a pair of trainers at his side. Alston dropped the ball, and Texas A&M assumed it was a fumble. However, the officials deemed it to be an incompletion, forcing Auburn to settle for a punt.
Starting quarterback DJ James left the game during the drive before Alston hurt his arm, apparently suffering an injury. Later in the game, after spending a significant amount of time in the medical tent, he was allowed to return to the field.
