Salah on Target as Liverpool Beats Darmstadt in Final Last Pre-season Schedule

Mohammed Salah found the back of the net for Liverpool after they beat Darmstadt in their final pre-season friendly.

The premier league giants and their opponents clashed on Monday, 7th of August, 2023, before the new season campaign started.

From the beginning of the match, Liverpool forced the German side to make mistakes. Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool as he fired Diaz’s flick into the back of the net.

Right minutes later, the Reds had their second goal after Mohamed Salah stole a ball from the defender, and teamed up with Diogo Jota who wiped in a superb finish.

The German side got their first pre-season goal after Mathias Honsak punished Liperpool’s high line with an offside trap, running and shooting it past Allison.

Darmstadt almost made it two before halftime, but Allison was lucky. Just after the hour mark Liverpool made it three through Luis Diaz. Dominik Szoboszlai sent a corner to the front post and the Colombian’s flick found the back of the net.

After the match, Diogo Jota said:

“It was great to start the game with two quick goals, I think their goal was against the run of play. In the end, it was a good test but we go now.”

“He’s unpredictable, he’s that kind of winger, he can create chances from nothing,” he added on Luis Diaz. “It’s helpful when we reach the final third. Last season he had an injury, hopefully, he can crack on this season.”

“We’re always wanting to play intense football, that’s where we want to improve. We’ve scored goals but we also conceded. We always want to improve, if we don’t concede we’re closer to winning.”

“We want to show something different this season and we finished higher than them,” he said on the prospect of Chelsea next weekend. “They’ve got a new manager and will start from scratch, Stamford Bridge is always difficult.”
