The CMT (Country Music Television) Music Awards took place on Sunday at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. It was hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, both of whom were also nominees and performed in the celebrity event.
Kane, along with his wife Katelyn Brown became the first husband-and-wife to win the coveted video of the year award for their 2022 song “Thank God.” It was also the first time each of them won in the category.
Rapper and country singer Jelly Roll won big won three trophies including the male breakthrough video of the year.
Other stars like by Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, and Alanis Morissette performed at the event.
Shania Twain went home with the 2023 “CMT Equal Play Award,” and Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lynyrd Skynyrd were honored with tribute performances by various artists.
Underwood who is still the CMT Awards all-time winner with 25 wins total, did not win any award on Sunday.
