Lewandoski strikes again, as Barcelona destroys Villarreal

Lewandoski shines for Barcelona

Lewandoski was on target, as Barcelona thrived in destroying Villareal, after their defeat against Real Madrid on Sunday.

Xavi’s project at Barcelona suffered its first serious wobble over the last two weeks, following a draw with Inter that has all but dumped them out of the Champions League and a convincing defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

From the first whistle, Barcelona dominated possession and moved up the gears well, creating opportunities from end to end.

Chances were coming and they finally got the first goal after half an hour when who else than Robert Lewandowski finished off a brilliant sequence involving Pedri and Jordi Alba.

A few minutes later, Lewandoski went on to grab his second, picking up the ball on the edge of the box and curling it into the back of the net beautifully.

Two goals in three minutes demonstrated exactly what Lewandowski is about when in full stride. The brilliant movement to find chances within a stubborn Villarreal defense.

Just before the break, Xavi’s side had put the game out of sight, with Ansu Fati making it 3-0; the third goal in seven minutes.

Camp Nou was in full voice, and understandably so considering the performance they were treated to.

The cheer that De Jong received when making way for Sergio Busquets was telling of his evening, as Barcelona cruised to the final whistle without really breaking a sweat.

De Jong dictated the tempo, cut out counterattacks, and allowed his two midfield colleagues to venture forward as a result.
