After Steven Gerrard was sacked by Aston Villa due to the poor performance of his team in the Premier League campaign this season, some friends have taken to their social media to show support.

It was the Liverpool legends second managerial position after his stint at Rangers and Klopp has backed him to return to the dugout in no time.

Liverpool’s boss, Jurgen Klopp also talked about Steven Gerrard:

“I don’t think we have to worry about Stevie. He said himself yesterday after the game, he knows the game long enough and these kind of things can happen.

“Always in life, we all get knocks here and there it’s all about how you respond. You all know Stevie still better than I do; he always came back and he will come back from that, no doubt about that.”

Steven Gerrard came in last season and was sacked only after winning 13 games in charge of Aston Villa.

They are currently outside of the relegation zone, but only on goal difference and have scored just four goals in their last eight games.

Aston Villa is currently in search of a new manager, with Thomas Frank, Ruben Amorim and Mauricio Pochettino all linked with the role.

The club would face Brentford on October 23 with the technical directors and assistant managers in charge, while they search for another manager.

Villa have won just twice in the league this season and only sit above the relegation zone on goals scored.

In a statement on Instagram, Steven Gerrard wrote:

“I would like to thank everyone connected to Aston Villa Football Club, for the support shown to me during my time there. I would personally like to thank the board of directors, the players and all the staff for their hard work.

“Aston Villa is a club with a special history, I really wanted to bring back those memorable achievements, unfortunately it wasn’t to be. I wish everyone at the club all the very best for the future.”
