More Devices Explode in Lebanon State News Agency Reports 3 Deaths

About 14 people have been confirmed dead on Wednesday after more electronics and batteries such as in radios, cars, motorcycles, mobile phones, laptops, fingerprint devices, walkie-talkies, and inverter and solar energy systems/panels, were seen exploding across Southern Lebanon.

Over 450 have been injured from the blasts, as per reports. Videos posted on X show that some devices went off near a funeral ceremony prepared for Hezbollah’s militants who lost their lives in the previous attack.

Local media also reports that some cars and mopeds in the southern suburbs of Beirut had blown up on the streets. One thing that most owners noted is that the vehicles vibrated before exploding. Lebanon Red Cross said it has dispatched more than 20 ambulances to the areas where explosions were witnessed.

According to Reuters, the internal panels of the walkie-talkies that exploded indicate that the devices, purchased five months ago, were manufactured by the Japanese firm ICOM. However, a previous claim made by the company suggests that the specific model, IC-V82, which is circulating online, has been discontinued.

Just a day before, the Lebanese government and its militant group accused Israel of remotely detonating pagers that led to the death of 12 people and more than 2500 injured. CNN reported that the coordinated attack was a joint operation conducted by the Israeli military and the country’s military intelligence service, Mossad.
