Justin Herbert Might Get An Ultrasound-Guided Injection Of Analgesics In His Ribs

When Tyrod Taylor was the starting quarterback for the Chargers, a painkilling injection to his ribcage ruptured his lung, forcing him out of a game minutes before kickoff. The Chargers do not want today’s events to be a rerun of the past.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, if Justin Herbert needs an injection of a painkiller today in his ribs, it will be an ultrasound-guided injection. This will allow the team’s medical staff to give the painkiller carefully and avoid hitting his lung or anything else that no one wants a needle to puncture.

Mortensen claims that Herbert participated in practice on Thursday despite receiving a painkilling shot earlier this week. After that, Herbert’s performance was inconsistent, and it’s still not clear if he will be able to play against the Jaguars today.

Taylor is now suing the physician who gave him the injection (who still works for the Chargers). Taylor and his attorneys will be interested to see if the Chargers’ medical staff is administering Herbert’s injection with more care than they did with Taylor’s.

Although Herbert’s participation in today’s game has not yet been confirmed, the betting public seems to believe he won’t, which is why the Chargers are only a 3-point favorite over the Jaguars.
